The appointee will, be required to initiate a psychiatric service i for the Board s public hospitals r which serve a population of some 250,000. The position is intended initially to be a whole-time one, without the right of private practice, but after the Psychiatric pepartrrient has been established for a reasonable period, the Board would be prepared to consider converting the appointment to a visiting basis, with the right of private practice. The salary paid will be deter- 7 mined by the provisions of the Hospital Employment (Medical Officers) Regulations? At present these provide scales between £2lOO per annum and £2650 per annum (New Zealand currency) for a suitably qualified wholetime appointee.
