Residents in this area are not ; required to obtain fire permits, but all burning must be carried out in accordance with the County By-law. Copies of the . By-law are obtainable from' the County Office. Residents in that part of the County in which the Closed Fire . Season is now in force must obtain a WRITTEN fire permit i for any burning in the open. BOOK EARLY. 2087 WOOL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS Applications are invited for three Wool Research Fellowships -to be awarded in 1961 for three years’ post-graduate study in wool science at overseas institutions. They will be awarded by the New Zealand Wool Board on behalf of ,an independent research organisation the Board plans to establish in 1961 in collaboration with the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. The initial budget will be £lOO,OOO a year. The organisation will undertake a balanced programme of research on wool and wool production, entailing work on the physical, chemical and biological properties of wool and other aspects of the industry. This is a most interesting field of scientific work on the major product in New Zealand’s economy. Each fellowship is valued at £lOOO per annum, and wife and child allowances are payable. Fares both ways for fellows and their families as well as tuition fees, a grant for books and apparatus and reasonable travelling expenses incurred while overseas will be paid. » Full details and application forms may be obtained from THE SECRETARY.
