WHEELS WITHIN WHEELS

One of the burdens borne ' by those who go to and from work or school each day by bicycle is the necessity to push into a stiff wind. There is always a head wind in the morning, and by the time the cyclist starts on the return journey, the breeze has swung about 180 degrees and freshened several knots.. All this tends to make life monotonous. It is little wonder then that cyclists, particularly young ones, often attempt * to make their travelling time a little less dreary by inventing little ‘ games. Some searchers after truth make repeated attempts to determine the differences in the distances of the various routes available to them by counting the revolutions of the pedals that each one of them requires. This piece of practical research may in the end permit the cyclist to get to school or work by the shortest route, but it then leaves
