STOCK AND SALE OF DRUGS
Chemist Fined On Eight Charges (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 14. Donald Charles Gapes, a chemist, of Auckland and formerly of Wellington, was convicted and fined £l5 and costs on each of eight charges relating to the purchase, stocking and dispensing of dangerous drugs, by Mr J. S. Thomson, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court today. On each of two other charges relating to the preparation of quantity stock accounts, Gapes was convicted and fined £5. Gapes did not appear and pleaded guilty through Mr D. A. Penlington, to four charges of failing to record his actual stock of dangerous drugs from June 30, 1958, to December 31, 1959, two charges of failing to prepare quantity stock ' accounts of dangerous drugs, one charge of failing to record the purchase of dangerous drugs and three charges of failing to record the dispensing of dangerous drugs. Mr J. D. Murray, for the Health Department, said that at the time of the offences Gapes had been a chemist in Wellington, but had since moved to Auckland. Mr Penlington said carelessness caused the offences.
