Ashburton, on August 18. 1860, Mr Melville Turton has donated TWO SPECIAL PRIZES of oil paintings by Austin Deans, for competition in the sheep and horse sections, and to be won outright by the successful exhibitors. One painting will be awarded to the CHAMPION SHEEP OF THE SHOW ram or ewe drawn from entries in the Merino, Romney Marsh, Corriedale, Southdown and Border Leicester sections. The other painting will be awarded to the CHAMPION HORSE OF THE SHOW selected from the Saddle Horse and Hunter sections. All competitors may compete for these prizes. J. p. McDonnell
