Melbourne Stock Exchange reported today that further sharp falls were recorded in prices this' week with turnovers low. Today the volume improved with better prices for leading stocks. The report said B.H.P. closed at 95s 6d (down 2s 6d) after sales down to 93s 3d. Colonial Sugar was steady at £B4 10s, Rothmans fell 5s to 95s and E.M.I. 4s 6d to 106 s. Georges Holdings, Ltd., retailers, rose 18s to 53s on the offer from Cox Bros., to close at 50s after the rejection of the offer by directors. B.H. South reported a profit 10 per cent, higher at £986,508 and North B.H. reported a result 12 per cent, better at £1,250,000.
