ICE-CREAM AND FROZEN FOODS
Turnover Of General Foods (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 30. Total sales of frozen vegetables, fruit and meat were rapidly approaching those of ice-cream. The company’s activities in the frozen foods line were now regarded as a major part of its affairs, said Mr A. E. Hayman, chairman of General Foods Corporation (N.Z.), Ltd., formerly Tip Top Ice Cream, Ltd:, at the annual meeting today. The company and its subsidiaries continued to take full ad-
vantage of increasing market potential enhanced by the particularly buoyant trading conditions prevailing throughout the country. In addition to the 20-acre property acquired by the company at Mount Wellington, land had also been purchased in New Plymouth and Masterton while a new depot in Hamilton was expected to improve greatly service south of Auckland, where roughly 40 per cent, of the company’s busness occurred. Mr J. M. Elliffe, deputychairman' of the company, said that the company’s expansion in recent years had been greatly helped by the progressive policy of takeovers and mergers which led to great economy and efficiency. This policy would be continued as opportunity offered.
