Mr Nash’s Message To Lady Gillies
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 12. The Prime Minister (Mr Nash) today sent the following message of sympathy to Lady Gillies, widow of Sir Harold Gillies: “On behalf of the Government and people of New Zealand I extend deep sympathy to you and your family. Sir Harold Gillies was one of New Zealand’s most distinguished sons, honoured all over the world for his genius in plastic surgery and revered above all for his deep humanity and his selfless devotion to his patients. "Sir Harold Gillies brought hope to the hopeless, courage to the disheartened, and new life to many who feared the ordeal of living with their grave dlsfigure’ments. His monument will live in the hearts of men and in the high art of surgical restoration which he pioneered.”
