Director Of Firm In Liquidation
"The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND, Sept 4. The liquidator of Rawson Davis (Proprietaries), Ltd., Mr N. Barclay, advised a meeting of creditors on Friday that early in July it was discovered that Bernard Davis, managing-director of the company, had left his hotel in West Germany without leaving a forwarding address. No further communication had been received from him by the liquidator. Mr Barclay said that at the time of liquidation Davis was in hospital in Munich, West Germany, with a broken leg, and was subsequently convalescing in Munich. In a letter to the liquidator, he said he would return to New Zealand, but fixed no expected date of arrival. If Davis did not return, said Mr Barclay, any remedies which the liquidator might have against him were of doubtful value. The list of creditors had not yet been completed, he said, but there were more than 4000, and the figure claimed by them would be in excess of £BO,OOO. It was his opinion, said Mr Barclay, that, unless certain stocks could be recovered, there would be no dividend to unsecured creditors, and that even if this stock was obtained the resulting dividend would be small. In the meantime, he added, the investigation of the books and affairs of the company was proceeding.
