OCEANOGRAPHERS’ CONFERENCE
French, Australian, N.Z. Scientists Meet
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. September 4.
French, Australian, and New Zealand oceanographic scientists held a series of meetings in Wellington last week to discuss problems affecting the marine resources of the three countries. The meetings, which began on Monday, were sponsored by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation.
The director of the Oceanographic Institute (Mr J. W. Brodie) said that the discussions were held because the three countries all had problems in • the development of their marine resources. These could only be solved by a thorough understanding of the oceanography of the whole area.
