Southland won the Peter Dawson Cup, the premier trophy of South Island minor association soccer, when it beat Marlborough by 2-0 in the final at Invercargill on Saturday. Appleton, to clear the ball from an attacking rush by Southland, gave the home team its first goal. At half-time the score was 1-0.
