Recommendation To N.Z.L.T.A.
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 4. Because of the difficulty of obtaining sufficient numbers of umpires and linesmen who are not participants and players in tennis tournaments, the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Umpires’ Association is recommending to the N.Z.L.T.A. that a condition of entry into such tournaments will be a player's agreement to act as umpire or linesman a specified number of times each day if called on to do so. This was unanimously agreed upon at the annual meeting of the Umpires' Association in Wellington on Saturday.
