Miles And Goals
A successful return to soccer after absence through injury has been made by the New Zealand, Canterbury and Technical Old Boys centre-forward, E. Charlton, this season. He has become a prolific goal-scorer in representative matches, and a much-travelled man’iirthe process.
On July 2 he scored a goal in Canterbury’s 5-4 win over Otago at Dunedin; on July 16 he scored two goals for the South Island in a 4-4 draw against the North at Auckland; on July 23 he scored three goals in Technical’s extratime win against Nelson Athletic in a zone final of the Chatham Cup at Nelson; on August 6 he scored two goals when Technical won the South Island final of the Chatham Cup in Christchurch against Northern,- of Dunedin, by 5-1; and on August 13 he scored two goals for Canterbury when the province lost 3-4 to Wellington at Wellington.
Soon Charlton will be leading Technical in the New Zealand final of the Chatham Cup agginst North Shore, of Auckland, at Wellington and at the end) of August he will leave with the New Zealand team on a tour of Tahiti.
