New Pavilion At Rangiora
CONSTRUCHON is now well advanced on a new grandstand and sports pavilion which Will make the Show Grounds, Rangiora, one of the finest sporting and show arenas in the Canterbury country districts. This development has been made possible by the initiative of the Rangiora Rugby Club and the owners of the ground, the Northern Agricultural and Pastoral Association, jointly financing the project With improved facilities available for both spectators and players, it is possible that increasingly important representative fixtures may be allocated to the ground, particularly as it is
considered by experienced players as one of the finest, if not the best, all-weather fields in the province. Although not on such a grand scale as stands at Lancaster Park, the new building has ample facilities. for most country fixtures. Measuring 57 feet by 26 feet, the building is of reinforced concrete block construction on a concrete slab?floor. Seating for about 500 persons will be provided in the stand, which has a cantilever roof and .is partially glassed in at either end. Accommodation Under the stand will be four dressing rooms with 12 showers and conveniences. Provision has been made for a broadcasting box. The terrace units of the stand are 19-foot sections of prestressed concrete. For the association’s annual show the new stand will be a great improvement on the existing wooden pavilion, which is now near the end of its long life. The ground floor rooms will serve as president’s, secretary’s, and press rooms during the show.
