Swan-Shooting
Sir,— I believe it is now illegal to shoot game sitting on the water. What is the difference between shooting sitting game on the water and shooting helpless hunted swans that cannot get on the wing for a considerable time? It is just as cruel as shooting fowls in a yard. Yesterday was such a beautiful sunny day, the Sabbath day, too; yet to hear the brutal bombardment going on on the lake was enough to sicken the soul of any humane person. When is this ruthless campaign on birds and beasts going- to end? Swans can easily be kept down by taking their eggs.—Yours, etc., STOP IT. August 1, 1960.
