Two 9Ji-inch guns on Waiheke Island, two at Whangaparaoa, and three six-inch guns on Motutapu—all classed as obsoletehave been given by the Army for scrap. The installation of the waiheke and Whangaparaoa guns was completed at the end of the Second World War. Those on Motutapu date from 1937, and were used by coastal artillery units during the war.—(P_A.)
