Low and West Derby was ridden by B. J. Langford. Capet started alongside his stablemate Baby Toes (B. L. Hillis) about four lengths behind West Derby and Peter Keith (R. J. Turnwald).
Peter Keith jumped the brush near the nine furlongs safely, and then Turnwald took him back to Cutts’s and waited for the others to finish their round there. Capet was soon alongside West Derby in front. Baby Toes following two or three lengths back. Capet skimmed the five-furlong brush, and West Derby went higher.
