League ELIGIBILITY OF E. BARNETT
Clearance Sought From Auckland
In an endeavour to clear up the eligibility of E. Barnett, of the Marist club, to play in Christchurch, the Canterbury Rugby League last evening adopted a resolution to ask its resident delegate in Auckland (Mr W. E. Moyle) to make a personal approach to the Auckland League to clarify the matter. The discussion arose after a letter was read from the Auckland League stating that although Barnett had signed a registration form for the Richmond club it was never formally approved by the Auckland League because of a lack of a clearance from Australia. The letter said that Barnett was Sven a special dispensation to play Auckland for two Saturdays, pending receipt of his clearance from Australia. After considerable discussion the resolution, moved by Mr G. Blazey, asking Mr Moyle to intercede, was adopted. A regrading from senior to junior was granted T. Tavendale. of the Addington club. Mr J. McNaughton was appointed manager-coach of a Canterbury team to play Otago at Dunedin on Saturday, August 13. For the Canterbury representative team to .play West Coast at Greymouth on Sunday August 14, Mr E. Butts was appointed coach and Mr M. Neiman manager. SATURDAY’S DRAW Seniors.—Papanul v. Linwood.
