“RING” TENDERING FROM BRITAIN
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. August 1.
The Auckland Electric Power Board is not satisfied with the present system of even price tendering by British firms for cable contracts in New Zealand. The Restrictive Trade Practices Act prevents the continuation of the Cable Manufacturers’ Association agreement for selling cable at common prices in Britain but Arms still use the system for overseas tendering. The board today decided to express its concern in the form of a remit to the annual conference of the Electrical Supply Authorities’ Association in Wellington in September. The association will be asked to refer the matter to the Government.
