Cat, But No Brewery
The future of Cleopatra, a brewery cat is in doubt because her former home, Wanganui’s Western Brewery, has closed. This dog-sized black cat, which accounts for 5s worth of meat a week may go into retirement at the nearby home of Mr T. Lockett, whose place she often visits. Her hunting feats are a legend among the staff. Besides the usual rats, mice and birds, she has accounted for five ducks and a seagull, dragging these from the riverbank, where she had snatched them, to her kittens in the brewery building.
