COMMUNIST PARTY CANDIDATES
Two Contests In Christchurch Two Christchurch seats will be contested by the Communist Party in the General Election. The Avon seat will be contested by Mr F. E. McNulty, a freezing worker, and Mr J. G. Locke,, a factory worker, will be nominated for Christchurch Central. ’ . Mr McNulty, who is a member of the district executive of the Canterbury Freezing Workers’ Union, a national councillor of the New Zealand union and secretary of the Thomas Borthwick and Sons, Ltd., branch of the union, will leave today on a trip to the Soviet Union and China. Mr McNulty said he Intended to study developments of the meat industry in both countries, with particular emphasis on processing. He will be accompanied by Mr A. Drennan (Auckland), a member of the Engineers’ Union, Mr D. Wolf (Auckland), and Mr E. Miller (New Plymouth), secretary of the Taranaki district council of the Federation of Labour.
