Hire-Purchase Curbs In N.S.W.
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, July 29. New legislation prohibiting nodeposit hire-purchase will operate in New South Wales from August 1. The minimum legal deposits will be—New motor cars: 20 per cent, (unchanged); used cars, 25 per cent, (previously 33 1-3 per cent ); household goods, 10 per cent, (previously there was no minimum). The act will require hirepurchase companies to furnish hirers with a clear statement showing how the total purchase price has been computed.
