Record 8.0.A.C. Profit
(NZ Press Association —Copyright) LONDON. July 28. British Overseas Airways Corporation announced today a record operating profit of £4.300,573 for the year ended March 31, 1960. Against figure, the company had a fixed interest payment, equivalent to a guaranteed dividend, of £4,022,760. leaving a clear surplus of £277.813. Last year. 8.0.A.C. had a deficit of more than £2.000.000. The company’s airlines in other parts of the world incurred a loss of £639.188. leaving 8.0.A.C. and the associated companies with a total deficit of £833,795 for 195960. Passengers carried by the airline during the year Increased to 507.372. Sir Gerard d’Erlanger, the retiring chairman of 8.0.A.C.. said passengers on the supersonic airliners of the future might have to pay up to 50 per cent, more for their tickets.
