MR L. RUDKIN
Mr Laurence Rudkin who for 50 years was associated with the firm of Lane, Walker, Rudkin, Ltd., died in Christchurch on Saturday. Mr Rudkin first became associated with the firm his father had helped to found in 1900 and was one of the early executives. He retired in 1949. He was at one time associated with the Sydenham Methodist Church and later with the Durham street Methodist Church. He was interested in gardening. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters. MR J. T. CALDOW Mr John Thomas Caldow, of 27 Weka street. Fendalton, died recently. aged 87. A past president ot the North Canterbury centre of the Caledonian Piping and Dancing Association, he was well known for his interest in Scottish affairs. Mr Caldow was also a director of the Canterbury Caledonian . Society. i He was appointed an inspector i to the Christchurch Drainage ■ Board in 1910 and was later senior ! draughtsman until he retired after [ 28 years’ service with the board. For many years he was an elder of St Paul’s Presbyterian Church ’ and later St George’s Church. 1 He is survived by a son and three daughters. • MR P- F.
