Assassination Of Bandaranaike
(N.Z Press Association—Copu.nqhti COLOMBO, July 30. The Colombo Chief Magistrate. Mr N. Wijeserkera, ordered five men to stand trial in the Ceylon Supreme Court for the assassination of the late Prime Minister. Mr Solomon Bandaranaike, American Associated Press reported. The Magistrate’s preliminiary hearing lasted 123 days. It concluded on July 15, when a sixth accused, Mrs Vimala Wijewardene. former Minister of Local Government in Mr Bandaranaike’s Cabinet, was discharged. The Magistrate said the evidence against her was false. The five men sent for trial are accused of conspiring to murder Mr Bandaranaike on September 25. They include two Buddhist monks, a priest and a police inspector.
