Auckland Club’s Finances “Ths Press'' Special Service AUCKLAND, July 29. The value of night trotting to the Auckland club was emphasised by the treasurer (Mr P. R. Bridgens) in his report to members on Wednesday. Gate receipts during the season for 11 nights soared to £38,726, compared with £5633 for the same number of day meetings in 1957-58 season. Totalisator returns this year were £2,014,798, of which £1,225.602 was handled on-course. The average turnover a night was £183.163 The profit on the year’s working, after heavy expenditure on track reformation and lighting alterations, was £7478. against a loss in 1957-58 of £15,960. Members gave unanimous accord to a proposal by Mr J. R. McCullough that television Screens be installed at Alexandra Park raceway for patrons in dining rooms and lounges. He believed 12 sets could be provided at a cost of approximately £35.200. He also suggested alternating the February dates at. Epsom to avoid clashing with the championships at Addington.
