N.A.C. SEEKS HOSTESSES
Duties In New Planes
The dream of many a young girl is to become an air hostess, a job which usually has a waiting list, but the dream may come true for some Christchurch girls this week. With the large increase in its services, the National Airways Corporation is recruiting air hostess trainees, who will work on the new Fokker Friendship aircraft when they arrive later this year- One of the Fokkers is expected to be in service at the end of the year, and three others will arrive at two-monthly intervals. The job of air hostess is not easy. A hostess requires physical stamina, tact, understanding, courtesy and an inherent ability to get on well with people. She needs a good education, pleasing appearance, and a pleasant manner. At. present there are 53 air hostesses working for the National Airways Corporation. No definite figure has been laid down as to the number of girls required. The main objective is to find girls with the right qualifications.
