Inter-Change Of Referees
The annual inter-change of soccer referees between Otago and Canterbury will take place this week-end when three senior Dunedin referees will act in Christchurch and three local referees in Dunedin. Those from Dunedin will be Messrs A. Patton and M. Laing, both New Zealand badge holders, and Mr J. Mason, who will soon be qualified. The three Canterbury men, all junior referees, will be Messrs M. Roberts, W. Higgins and E. Clark. This inter-change of referees has done much to iron out the differences in interpretations between the two associations, and has contributed to a higher standard of refereeing. As well as the three Dunedin men in Christchurch, two South Canterbury referees, Messrs K. Foxcroft and J. Denley, from Timaru, have accepted an invitation from the Canterbury Referees' Association to control games here on the same day. Mr Foxcroft was for many years a South Canterbury representative player, having first played tor his province when aged 16.
