Hearing Adjourned To Whataroa

After a post-mortem examination on the body of Roger Charles Watson, a Marine Department officer, who died in an aircraft crash in the sea at Cascade Point, South Westland, on February 27, it was not possible to establish the cause of death, said Dr. C. T. B. Pearson, a Christchurch pathologist, in the Christchurch Coroner’s Court yesterday. Dr. Pearson said it was probable that death was due to drowning in view of the circumstances surrounding Watson’s disappearance. There was no evidence of any injuries sustained before his death. The post-mortem examination on the body was carried out at the request of the Coroner at Whataroa. The Christchurch Coroner (Mr E. B. E. Taylor) adjourned the inquest for completion at Whataroa.

Arrested while trying to steal a yacht at Villefranche, a man explained to the police that he was so in love with Brigitte Bardot he had to leave the country to forget her.
