MR L. G. K. STEVEN TO RESIGN
President Of Crippled Children Society
Closely connected with the work of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society since 1935, Mr L. G. K. Steven, president of the Canterbury and West Coast branch Of the society, is to resign his office. He has told the branch committee that he will resign as president at the annual meeting on August 1. Mr Steven was president of the Christchurch Rotary Club tn 1935 when he called a public meeting to form the branch. Since then he has kept in close touch with the day-to-day work of the branch.
He has been on the branch committee since it was formed; as chairman from 1947 to 1955 and as president since then. During the last five years he has been on the'executive council of the society. Branch committee members at their last meeting paid tribute to Mr Steven’s work in the cause of crippled children. They expressed hope that although he was retiring from taking an active part in the branch’s work his advice would still be available to the committee.
