PARLIAMENT’S DIARY
The Nelson Railway Authorisation Bill was passed through all stages by 4.3 p.m. yesterday. In the third reading debate, which occupied most of yesterday's speaking time, the speakers were:— Government: The Minister of Works (Mr Watt),' Messrs S. A. Whitehead (Nelson) and N- E. Kirk (Lyttelton) and the Prime Minister (Mr Nash). Opposition: The Leader of the Opposition (Mr Holyoake), Messrs F. L. A. Gotz (Manakau), T. P. Shand (Marlborough). W. H. Gillespie (Hurunui), and D- J. Eyre (North Shore). Mr Nash requested that the first business next Tuesday should be the Republic of Ghana Bill, which he has asked be passed quickly through all stages.
