THE NEW FLAG OF KATANGA PROVINCE is raised by Congolese military policemen at Elisabethville on July 18 during a ceremony at which the secession of the province from the Congo Republic was proclaimed. The Katanga Prime Minister, Mr Moise Tshombe, broke with the Congo Government during the recent violence in the Congo, and-is seeking recognition of Katanga as an independent nation.
