FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT
Situation.—An anti-cyclone to the north of New Zealand is moving eastwards. A trough of low pressure is moving across the South Island. * Forecast: Nelson, Central Marlborough and the Kaikoura coast.— North-west winds, becoming fresh to strong’ about the Kaikoura coast-and about the north of Nelson, elsewhere light to moderate; rather cloudy with showers about the west of Nelson and in the ranges: moderate temperatures. Outlook: mainly fine. The - Sounds.—Strong north-west winds; cloudy with showers becoming general during the day. Outlook: mainly fine. West Coast.—Moderate northerly winds predominating; cloudy with rain becoming persistent in Buller and North Westland; showers in South Westland; temperatures -cooler. Outlook: further rain. Canterbury.—Winds soon turning to moderate southwesterlies with some rain and cooler temperatures in South Canterbury; rain spreading northwards during the day. Outlook: mainly fine.
