SUMNER MAIN DRAIN
New Bridge And Flood Gate 1
The Sumner Residents' Association was told that a new bridge will be put over the Summer main drain at Campbell street Mr A. L. B. Ross, who gave the information, is a member of the association, who recently inspected the drain with the Christchurch City Council and the Christchurch Drainage Board.
Mr Ross said it was found that at high tide waves surged up the drain as far as Colenso street When the drain flooded the water could not, as a result, get away properly. To help check this, the Drainage Board would erect a second flood gate about 50 yards from the outlet, he said.
