EIGHT NEW RADAR UNITS FOR N.Z.
One To Be Installed In Christchurch (New goalart Press AatectoMooi WELLINGTON, July 28. Eighteen new “wind-finding” radar unit* ordered by the Government for key locations in New Zealand and the South Pacific will give the country a comprehensive cheek on weather balloon* in very high altitudes within two years. Constructed to Civil Aviation Administration specifications, the eight units will be located at Auckland, -Ohakea, Wellington. Christchurch. Invercargill, Rarotonga, Nandi and at Funafuti Island in the Ellice group. The first unit will probably go into service at Ohakea towards the end of next year.
