Match Ploughs Will Be Subject To Inspection
Ploughs of the 23 competitors at the New Zealand championships at Washdyke tomorrow will be inspected by a panel of four officials before the. match to see that they conform with the rules for the event The men who will perform this duty are Messrs S. •5. Tiffen (Havelock North), K. Boyle'(Christchurch), A. S. Crossan (Kelso) and one other who was to be named late this week. The contest is limited to mounted or trailer semi-digger two-furrow ploughs fitted with skimmers, but no other extraneous attachments such as fins, knives, boats, seamers, press wheel* or weights may be used other than a* a standard flat tail piece. A semi-digger mould board must be not more than 45 inches in length from the point of the share to the rear of th* board excluding the tail piece.
The concavity of the board is measured by placing a straight edge perpendicular against the board and square with the top of the board. The board has to be concave over th* greater part of its surface. Match official* will Include Mr G. M. Scott, secretary of the New Zealand Ploughing Association, of Wellington, who will be marshal of the parade of competitors with their tractor* and ploughs which will precede th* match, Messrs J. D. Henderson, of West Melton, and G. C. Hurst, of Oatraru, who will be head steward*, and Messrs 3. P. Porter (Rosewill), J. D. McPhedran (Taiko). L. V. Nicol (Rosewill), A. Fraser (Rosewill). E. Gibson (Taiko), and D. Gibson (Springbrook) who will be plot stewards. Mr J. P. Marshall, of Taiko, is acting as liaison officer for competitor*.
