will be the man who will fire a warning green Very light at five minutes before midday tomorrow to alert ploughmen taking part in the national championships at Washdyke and five minutes later he will fire a red light marking the start of New Zealand’s premier ploughing event Two hours and 50 minutes later, Mr Dawson will fire another green signal to indicate to competitors that the match is near an end and a red signal five minutes later to mark the end of the match. According to the rules of the match, a competitor may only complete the furrow that he is ploughing when the final signal is fired and he must do that without stopping or dismounting.
