CROSS-COUNTRY FLIGHTS
Greater Control Over Aero Club Pilots
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 28. Greater control over aero club pilots making cross-country flights was decided on at the annual meeting of the Royal New Zealand Aero Club in Wellington today. Addressing the meeting, the Minister in charge of Civil Aviation (Mr Mathison) referred to the “occasional but premeditated breaches of regulations by experienced pilots which so often end in tragedy.” This, he said, could not be tolerated indefinitely. Later, the president of the club (Mr R. D. Brown) outlined a flight authorisation plan to control
flights. A form, required to be : signed by instructor and pupil was shown to delegates for approval. i “If we don’t discipline ourselves i a higher authority will," said Mr ' Brown, “and authority always i seeks to restrict the poorest ' mentality it can imagine, not the ■ average.” The suggested plan was adopted.
