The Maori Land Court has confirmed 34 resolutions for incorporation passed unanimously at meetings of Maori owners of 34 blocks of land at Tihi-o-Tonga, on the outskirts of the Rotorua borough, and which involve nearly 7000 acres. “The matter has been traversed at length over the last three years,” said Judge I. Prichard, “and the Court is satisfied that whatever they may one day say, the people now desire incorporation.”

Discussion on the proposed committee of management was held after an order of incorporation was granted by the Court. "The present value of assets going into the incorporation is almost £500,000,” said Mr J. D. Dillon, counsel for a group of owners. “This is one of the most substantial undertakings in the Bay of Plenty. I feel that experience and ability are essential requisites to the success of the undertaking. “Therefore, I feel that the resolution passed by owners at a previous meeting that no Europeans should be on the committee is against the interests of my 139

“The Court states that the owners should appoint whom they choose,” said Judge Prichard. “But such is the position that it would be desirable to have the names of two experienced businessmen who would be willing to act for the meeting”.
