GROWING DEMAND FOR SECTIONS

“Considerable” Rise In Some Prices (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 27. There was an increasing demand for vacant residential sections, and in certain areas the prices for these sections had increased considerably, said the Valuer-General (Mr J. B. Brown) in his annual report to Parliament. “These increases reflect the demand created by a greater number of seekers for new homes and the provision of loan monies on favourable terms,” said Mr Brown. “Less favourable lending terms for older homes have had the effect of reducing the number of purchasers, so that there is a tendency towards a buyers’ market, with a reduction in prices except Where low deposits are involved. The number of transactions for this type of property has slightly increased, however, from last year.”
