Smog
Sir, —From 'so-called incinerators and unfiltered factory chimneys, certain city areas suffer air pollution, summer and winter, day and night. The spread of fog is additional distress to continually irritated mucous membranes and eyes. Do Londoners regret their pea-soupers left behind eight or 80 years ago? Would they approve reproduction of similar undesirable atmospheric developments here? How many settlers migrated to avoid overcast city skies, seeking healthy sunshine here? Some of their descendants now suffer here from the-' spreading unchecked smog. Mr R. R. Livingstone’s letter has been fully appreciated.—Yours, etc., GRATEFUL. July 24, 1960.
