Squash Rackets Miss Wright Wins At Masterton
(New Zealand Press Association) MASTERTON, July 24. In an all-Australian final of the Walrarapa women's squash championships at Masterton over the week-end. Miss Lois Wright beat Miss Joan Morey. 9-0. 9-2, 9-1. Four of the five touring Australian player, won through to the semifinals. their determination and concentration putting them a class above the local women. C. Waugh, the South Island open squash champion, defeated P. Lindsay in the final of the men’s open championship. Waugh showed superior speed and fitness. Results:— Women.—Semi-finals: L. Wright beat F. Grant, 9-4. 9-6. 9-0; J. Morey beat B. Meagher. 9-5. 9-1. 9-4. Final: Wright beat Morey. 9-0. 9-2. 9-1. Men’s Open. Semi-finals: C. Waugh beat J. Newbiggln. 9-1, 9-6, 9-4; P. Lindsay beat N. Stagg. 9-2. 9-5, 9-0. Final: Waugh beat Lindsay. 10-8. 9-7, 9-2.
