INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
Function For N.Z. Delegates Ratification of the international game, as played by New Zealand, is the main aim of New Zealand’s delegates to the International Basketball Conference to be held in Ceylon from August 1-8. This was said on Saturday by Mrs R. bane, president of the New Zealand Basketball Association. who with Mrs L. Coaitsworth. secretary of the association, will act as delegates from New Zeeland. Mrs bane and Mrs Coatsworth were the guests of the Canterbury Basketball Association at a function held on Saturday afternoon to say farewell to tiie Canterbury representatives in the New Zealand basketball team before Shear departure for Australia Miss Edna Yates, president of the Canterbury association, in making presentations to Mesdames bane and Coatsworth. and also to the three players, Mrs P. Edmonds. Miss J. Dunlop and Miss C. McMaster, emphasised the importance of both these overseas tours to the New Zealand association.
In reply. Mrs Lane and Mrs Coatsworth thanked the Canterbury association for the presentations and wished the Canterbury players a pleasant tour. Mrs R. French, the vice-presi-dent of the Canterbury Referees' Association, also made presentations to the delegates on behalf of referees.
