“BOGUS” PEACE IN WORLD
Archbishop Saw Fear Overseas (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 24. Many people considered the present period of peace “bogus’' and a possible prelude to something worse, said the Archbishop of Wellington and Metropolitan of New Zealand (the Most Rev. P. T. McKeefry). ) The over-all. impression gained on his recent trip overseas was one of concern at the steady deterioration in international relationships, he said. There was a lot of distrust of Russia in the United States, particularly in view of recent Communist congresses. The recent trouble in Tokyo and Rome was regarded as the first indication that certain policies were being implemented. The Archbishop returned to Wellington on Thursday after a eight-month stay overseas, when he carried the ad lumina report to the Holy See. In the course of his trip he visted the United Kingdom, North America, Europe and the Middle East.
