Auckland Women Beat Canterbury

M. G. Halberg, in spite of the handicap of a bruised foot, won the senior Auckland cross-country title at Cornwall Park on Saturday with a mangificent rum His win was a handsome one, and his time of 32min 42sec, which easily bettered his winning time in the teams’ race, was outstanding on the heavy course. W. D. Baillie, the defending champion, was second, inches ahead of J. F. Julian, the national titleholder. Miss M. Dixie, the 14-year-old Canterbury girl, defeated the Auckland champion Miss W. Deed in the Auckland-Canterbury women s conAuckland, however, wrested the cup from the South Island team, with four runners in the first six home.
