Win For Marlborough At Carterton
(New Zealand Press Association) MASTERTON, July 24. Although it was unable to control set play, the Marlborough Rugby team defeated Wairarapa 15-9 at Carterton on Saturday. Wairarapa scored after thr&e minutes when T. Patete kicked a field goal, and Wairarapa continued to attack for most of the spell, but Marlborough was leading 6-3 at halftime with good tries by W. Stafford and B. Mulloy.
The second half saw the Marlborough forwards playing a more prominent part, with H. Smith in everything. A. Pacey, whose kicking was poor in the first half, kicked three penalties for Marlborough in the second half, while W. Williams scored six points for Wairarapa, also from penalties.
