CABINET IN CEYLON
Some New To Politics COLOMBO, July 23. Mrs Sirimavo Bandaranaike. the world’s first woman Prime Minister, today named her Cabinet. which was later sworn in. The crushing victory of her Sri Lanka Freedom Party in this week’s general elections enabled her to select the 11-member Cabinet from her own party. Mrs Bandaranaike is Minister of Defence and External Affairs. Six of the new Ministers also served in Mr Bandaranaike’s Cabinet. Mr Sam Fernando, the Minister of Justice, is a newcomer to politics, having been a practising lawyer until now. Mr Baduiain Mahamud, the Minister of Education, is also a newcomer. He was the headmaster of a provincial school and was a close associate of Mr Bandaranaike.
