MAN KILLED, TWO HURT
Car Hit Back • Of Truck (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 24. The father of four young children was killed, his wife seriously injured, and another man hurt when a car struck the back of a stationary truck at the corner of Church street and O’Rourke street, Penrose, early this morning. The man killed was: Cyril John Newton, aged 35. of 75 Tanepa crescent, Meadowbank. His wife, Mrs Dorothy Eva Hope Newton, was admitted to Green Lane Hospital with lacerations to the mouth and face. Anthony John Mallett, aged 22. single, of Otorohanga, was also admitted to the hospital suffering from concussion. Mrs Newton and Mr Mallett were said to be in a “fairly satisfactory” condition tonight.
