Fat Stock Show
Cattle entries are easily a record and sheep entries are at their second highest figure for the Grand National fat stock show on Monday, the secretary of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association (Mr H. M. Studholme) said this week. The cattle section has attracted 153 entries, compared with 136 last year, and the sheep section has 131 entries, compared with 126. The highest figure for sheep was 134 entries in 1950.
Each class is well supported and there are 31 entries in the under two-year-old steer class, 17 in the pen of three steers under three years, and 13 in the pen of three under two years. The Butchers* Cup for the best pen of three steers to kill under 8001 b will be selected from 22 entries.
