The Bishop of Christchurch (the Rt. Rev. A. K. Warren) will leave Christchurch today to visit the West Coast, where he will conduct services of confirmation at Hokitika and Kumara.

Tributes to Mr R. R. Beauchamp, who has resigned from the Canterbury Education Board, were paid by board members when Mr Beauchamp attended his last board meeting yesterday. Chief Superintendent D. J. Sugrue, who has been in charge of the Christchurch police district for the last seven years and will retire after 40 years" service on August 17. was presented this week with a travelling rug by the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association.
Mr L. R. Hewitt, formerly relieving manager for the Tourist Hotel Corporation, has been appointed manager of the Waitomo Hotel. He was formerly at the Hermitage, and last year was leader of the New Zealand winter party at Scott Base. Mr R. Marshall has been appointed chairman of the Board of Examiners under the Coal Mines Act, 1925.
